I learned early in life how a “personal injury” can affect an entire family.
When I was a teenager, my Mom slipped on ice while running one morning. A homeowner negligently left their sprinklers on overnight during a winter freeze, and an ice sheet formed on their sidewalk. My mother’s leg was severely broken, and she broke her ankle as well. Even now, more than 25 years later, my mom still suffers from the injury, and will have lifelong medical needs because of it. My memories of her multiple surgeries and her ongoing grueling recovery remind me that no matter how simple or unintentional an act of negligence may seem, the consequences for the victim can be life-changing.
I understand that my primary responsibility is to tell my client’s story.
I love the law, and I excel at strategizing with my law partners to use the law to put our clients in the strongest position possible going into a trial. Ultimately, however, what I focus on is getting to know my clients personally- understanding each and every way their injury affected their life and will affect their life in the future; both from a practical, physical standpoint, and from an emotional one. There is no other way, in my opinion, to be able to properly tell your client’s story to the jury. This is my favorite part of the job.
